The date had been circled on the Xtreme schedule since the June 10th meeting with the Devils which saw Xtreme suffer its first defeat of the season by a score of 15-7. The game only lasted about an hour with some good defense (and lack of offense) on both sides. Xtreme took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the 7th, and despite a couple of solo HR's by the Devils, the defense held on for a 5-4 victory. The win temporarily vaulted Xtreme ahead of the Devils in the President's Division standings, as both squads prepared for their second games of their double-headers.
The Devils remained at K2 to face Coulas, and the Bone Crushers stepped up their game and handed the Devils their second one-run loss of the evening (and more importantly, 5th loss of the season).
Xtreme moved over to K1 to take on the Falcons in their second game of the night. Despite a comedy of errors defensively and another somewhat lacklustre collective hitting performance, the game was still available for the taking. Xtreme entered the home half of the 7th down by 3 runs, and alongside a couple of atrocious calls made by the umpire (both on the same play), the defending Playoff Champs just could not complete the comeback this time, falling by a final count of 19-16.
Xtreme remains atop the President's Division standings (15-4-1), and trails the Vice President's Division leader Storm (16-4) by a half-game for overall League Supremacy.
Xtreme is back in action on Wednesday night at 9:30pm on K1, as they look to start up a new winning streak with a road game against Greenthumb.
