Xtreme Defence dominates Double-Header Sunday!

Xtreme Hosts 1st Place Falcons:

Sunday Night for Xtreme Contracting began with a huge game, as they prepared to play host to Whitby's "Most-Beloved" at 8:00pm on K1.  Things did not start well for Xtreme, as a few errors in the top of the 1st inning led to an early 4-0 Falcons lead.  The Offence responded however in the home half of the inning with 5 runs to chase the Falcon's starting pitcher Junior and take a 5-4 lead.

The Defence stepped it up after the first inning allowing only 2 more Falcons' runs over the remaining 6 frames, Xtreme's pitching was solid for the entire game, and the Offence continued to produce in key situations.  Rick Mace, Derek Ackford, Dave Mountain, and Jamie Allan all recorded Homeruns on the evening for the 2011 Playoff Champions.

It was a successful start to the evening as Xtreme grounded the normally high-flying Falcons, while handing them their 5th loss of the Season by a Final Score of 13-6.

Xtreme Deliberately Defy Absent Sponsor:

In related news, following the 8:00pm game Xtreme players moved up to the Refreshment Section with 30 minutes to kill before the 9:30pm contest against the St. Louis Devils (who appeared to have engaged in similar activities following their 8:00pm defeat at the hands of the Storm).  Prior to leaving for vacation, Team Sponsor Chris Mace was adamant about no "mid-game refreshments" on double-header evenings due to the team's somewhat lacklustre performance of late in Game #2 of these contests.  However, as Mace was absent, his comments were just ridiculed by the players and coaches alike who enjoyed a cold one in advance of heading out on the road - Destination Hell (K2).

Game 2 of the evening was a relatively low-scoring affair for the first few innings, as Xtreme only cashed 1-run in the top of the 1st and then gave it back in the bottom of the 1st.  The Defence however remained solid and did not permit another Devils run for the remainder of the game.  It was another strong pitching performance, and the Offence once again came through putting up double-digits, including a 3-run homerun by Assistant Manager Ashbee.

Xtreme Contracting (11-6) defeat the St. Louis Devils (7-9) by a Final Score of 10-1 and move into a tie with the Falcons for 4th in the overall League Standings (3rd in the President's Division), as Signage Source Storm (12-5) also completed the sweep in their double-header action on Sunday, coming back from a 10-0 deficit to get the best of the Falcons by a final count of 13-10.
