Xtreme pulls off their 1st victory of the season over Rebels

In what was looking like a night where there would be no ball at Kelloryn Park following a major storm with some heavy rains, Xtreme and Rebels were fortunate enough to have the 9:30pm game, and with a little TLC, the diamonds were groomed to be playable.

Xtreme did not have a strong game offensively, but the defense was strong enough for the defending champs to hang around engaged in a 7-7 draw through 6 innings of play.  A controversial intentional walk to Darryl Ashby in the bottom of the 6th with 2 out and 2 men on proved to be a smart call and led to a bases loaded pop-out with no damage.

A 7th inning rally cashed a pair of runs for Xtreme and the defense only conceded one in the bottom of the 7th, as Xtreme held on for a scrappy 9-8 victory.

The win moves Xtreme within 1 game of both the Devils and Storm, although both teams have a game in hand.  Xtreme is now off until Wednesday September 5th, when they will host Greenthumb at 8:00pm on K1.
