While Wednesday night was a fairly meaningless game for Xtreme (who will have to settle for 2nd place behind the Devils in the President's Division) it was important for the team to regain its momentum following a long lay-off. Xtreme did not disappoint the fans, starting with a defensive hold in the top of the 1st and cashing in 5 runs in the home half of the inning for an early lead.
A few defensive mishaps in the 2nd inning allowed Greenthumb to cash 4 runs of their own making it a closer game for a brief period of time. Xtreme however continued to smack the ball hard and the offense put up 24 runs on the evening, en route to a 24-9 final.
Honourable mentions go out to Larry Mitchell, Rick "Cito" Ashbee, and Mikey "the closer" Anderson who combined for a solid pitching performance on the evening. Cito was also 4-for-4 at the plate displaying the Veteran Leadership that Xtreme will be seeking throughout their 2012 Playoff Run! Jamie Allan also jacked #23 on the season putting him into a tie with the Rebel's (Ashby) for the Homerun Title.
The Walking Wounded (Chris Mace, Tim Rodgers, and Don Bridge) were also out in full force, and provided their inspirational leadership from the dugout and during the post-game festivities of course!
Xtreme will take the field on Sunday to wrap up it's 2012 regular season campaign against Direct Elevator, in what could be a Playoff preview of the round-robin should Direct retain 6th place in the overall standings.
Sunday is also the last Fan Appreciation Night for the Season, and Xtreme players will be available for autographs, photos, and chats following the game "on the hill" and Pizza and Pops will complement the post-game events.
Come out and support YOUR Xtreme Contracting at Kelloryn Park (Diamond #2) @ 5:00pm.
